Egor boosts anti-kidnapping drive with 12 motorcycles for security agencies

By Elvis Omoregie

The Chairman of Egor Local Government Council, Hon. Osaro Eribo, has donated 12 motorcycles to security agencies to strengthen anti-kidnapping operations and improve community policing, in a move aimed at enhancing public safety and supporting Edo State's security architecture.

The motorcycles were presented to the Nigeria Police Force, Ugbowo Division, and the Edo State Security Corps to improve the mobility of security operatives and enable faster response to emergencies, particularly in communities that are difficult to access with conventional patrol vehicles.

Speaking during the presentation in Benin City, Eribo said the initiative underscores his administration's commitment to protecting lives and property while creating a secure environment for businesses and residents.

He declared that Egor Local Government would not provide a safe haven for kidnappers, bandits, cultists or other criminal elements, stressing that improved logistics would enable security agencies to respond more effectively to emerging security threats.

According to him, the intervention complements the security agenda of Governor Monday Okpebholo by equipping frontline security personnel with the tools required to intensify patrols, prevent crime and reassure residents of government's commitment to their safety.

Eribo commended officers and personnel of the Nigeria Police Force, Edo State Security Corps and other security agencies for their dedication and sacrifices in maintaining law and order despite the dangers associated with their responsibilities.

He urged the beneficiaries to deploy the motorcycles effectively by increasing visibility policing, strengthening intelligence gathering and expanding community patrols to deny criminal groups any operational space within Egor and neighbouring communities.

The council chairman also called on residents to support security agencies by providing timely and credible intelligence, noting that sustainable security depends on strong collaboration between government, law enforcement agencies and the public.

He reaffirmed his administration's commitment to investing in initiatives that strengthen public safety, describing peace and security as critical foundations for economic growth, investment and sustainable development in Egor Local Government.
