AIGUOBASINMWIN Movement Backs UNIBEN N100bn Trust Fund, Calls for Sustained Support

AIGUOBASINMWIN MOVEMENT WORLD-WIDE has congratulated Professor Edoba Bright Omoregie, SAN, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Benin (UNIBEN), and Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, Chairman of the UNIBEN Trust Development Fund, on the successful launch of the N100 billion UNIBEN Trust Development Fund, describing the initiative as a landmark step toward repositioning the institution for sustainable growth and global competitiveness.
The group said the Fund represents a strategic and transformative vision aimed at accelerating infrastructure development, strengthening academic excellence, enhancing research capacity, and elevating UNIBEN’s status among leading institutions globally.
In a statement jointly signed by Mr. Iyamu Osaro Culture, President; Mr. Osayuki-Osa Benson, Secretary General; and Mr. Monday Ohuimumwen, JP, Diaspora Coordinator, the movement noted that the establishment of the Fund reflects visionary leadership and a strong commitment to the long-term development of the institution.
According to the statement, the Management and Board of Trustees of the N100 billion Trust Development Fund now have the responsibility of translating the vision into measurable achievements that will positively impact both current and future generations of students and scholars.
The group also appealed to corporate organisations, alumni associations, philanthropists, development partners, Edo sons and daughters, as well as Nigerians who made pledges during the launch ceremony, to sustain their support for the successful realization of the initiative.
“A sustained commitment from stakeholders remains critical to ensuring that the vision behind the Trust Development Fund is preserved and fully realised for the advancement of education and national development,” the statement said.
The movement further expressed appreciation to His Royal Majesty Oba Ewuare II, CFR, who was represented by senior palace chiefs at the event, alongside government officials, alumni, philanthropists and other stakeholders whose participation contributed to the success of the occasion.
It commended Professor Edoba Bright Omoregie, SAN, and Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu for their leadership and expressed confidence that with collective support and effective implementation, the University of Benin would consolidate its position as one of Nigeria’s leading institutions of higher learning.
