Uhunmwonde communities commend Okpebholo’s development drive, applaud political maturity

The Odiowere (Community Head) of Eguaholor Community in Uhunmwonde Local Government Area of Edo State, Pa. Omokaro Osarenkhoe, has commended Governor Monday Okpebholo for what he described as exemplary leadership, political maturity and a commitment to inclusive development following the construction of a 7.5-kilometre road connecting several agrarian communities in the area.

Speaking on behalf of residents of Eguaholor, Isi, Ohe, Ekenisi, Obaseki's Village, Uvbenisi, Iguomo and adjoining communities leading to Oza in Orhionmwon Local Government Area, Osarenkhoe described the road project as a landmark intervention capable of transforming the economic and social fortunes of thousands of residents.

According to him, the project represents a major departure from years of neglect that left residents struggling with poor road infrastructure and limited access to markets and social amenities.

He particularly praised the governor for extending the road project to Ekenisi, the ancestral home of former Governor Godwin Obaseki, despite political differences associated with the previous administration.

Osarenkhoe said the decision reflects a leadership style driven by service delivery rather than political considerations.

“Governor Monday Okpebholo has demonstrated that development should not be defined by political affiliations. The extension of this road project through Ekenisi is a strong message that governance is about serving the people and prioritising development,” he said.

He noted that for decades, communities in the area faced significant transportation challenges that negatively affected farming activities, commerce and general socio-economic growth.

According to him, improved road infrastructure will ease the movement of people and goods, strengthen agricultural productivity and enhance the quality of life for residents across the benefiting communities.

The community leader also expressed appreciation to the governor for the reappointment of Dr. Washington Osifo as a commissioner in the Edo State Executive Council.

Describing Osifo as a committed and experienced public servant from Uhunmwonde Local Government Area, Osarenkhoe said his continued inclusion in government reflects the administration’s recognition of competence and performance.

He further assured the governor of the continued support and cooperation of the people of Uhunmwonde, noting that the administration’s development initiatives are already gaining positive reception at the grassroots level.

Osarenkhoe urged the governor to remain committed to his development agenda for Edo State, stressing that policies and programmes focused on progress, unity and prosperity would continue to enjoy the support of the people.
