Former Accord Governorship Candidate Enabulele Joins Edo South Senate Race

By Elvis Omoregie, Benin

Dr. Bright Enabulele, former governorship candidate of the Accord Party in the 2024 Edo State election, has formally entered the race for the Edo South Senatorial District seat under the platform of the National Democratic Coalition (NDC) Party ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Enabulele’s entry into the contest is expected to reshape political calculations within the district as parties intensify consultations and grassroots mobilisation across Edo South.

The medical practitioner and politician, who gained prominence during the last governorship election with campaigns centred on governance reforms, youth inclusion and improved social services, is positioning his senatorial ambition as part of a broader effort to deepen representation and development in the district.

Political observers say his emergence under the NDC introduces a fresh dynamic into the Edo South contest, particularly among voters seeking alternatives outside the dominant political parties.

Although the NDC remains a relatively emerging platform within Edo State politics, party stakeholders believe Enabulele’s profile and previous governorship outing could strengthen its visibility and competitiveness ahead of the polls.

Sources close to the campaign indicated that consultations with community leaders, professional groups and political stakeholders across the seven local government areas in Edo South are already ongoing.

Enabulele is expected to unveil his policy direction in the coming months, with early indications suggesting emphasis on economic empowerment, healthcare development, education and legislative advocacy for infrastructural expansion within the senatorial district.

The Edo South Senatorial District remains one of the most politically strategic constituencies in Edo State, often attracting intense competition due to its voting strength and economic significance.
