The Nigeria Union of Journalists has announced plans to hold a candlelight procession in honour of late ITV/Radio correspondent, Kingsley Uchegbu, who died after a brief illness.

In a statement signed by the Secretary of the council, Andy Egbon, the procession is scheduled for Friday, May 15, 2026, and will commence at 5 p.m. from the NUJ Press Centre, GRA, Benin City.

According to the statement, participants will proceed through Sapele Road before returning to the Press Centre in what the union described as a solemn tribute to the late journalist, who until his death served as Government House Correspondent for ITV/Radio.

The union called on journalists, friends, professional colleagues and members of the public to join the procession in honour of the deceased, describing him as a dedicated professional and committed member of the media community.

The statement further urged participants to appear in black attire as a mark of respect and solidarity with the family of the late broadcaster.

“The media family pays tribute to a dedicated professional and valued member of the Nigeria Union of Journalists,” the statement noted.

The planned procession is expected to draw journalists and sympathisers from across Edo State as tributes continue to pour in for the late correspondent.
