The member representing Ovia North East I Constituency in the Edo State House of Assembly, Charity Aiguobaruekhian, has said his decision to align with the National Democratic Congress was informed by the party’s commitment to consistency, loyalty and people-centred politics.
Aiguobaruekhian made the disclosure during the flag-off of his consultation visits to leaders and stakeholders of the party ahead of his ambition to contest the Ovia Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives in the 2027 general elections.
The former member of the Peoples Democratic Party said the warm reception he received from party leaders and supporters reflected the confidence reposed in his leadership and political direction.
According to him, his political journey has always been driven by the trust of the people and a commitment to effective representation.
“I embraced the NDC because it is a symbol of consistency and loyalty. The platform has continued to stand for values that place the interest of the people above personal ambition,” he stated.
The lawmaker noted that throughout his period in office, he had focused on programmes and projects that directly impacted residents, rather than pursuing personal gains.
He highlighted some of his interventions to include bursary schemes for students, electricity projects and other infrastructural development initiatives across his constituency.
Aiguobaruekhian expressed optimism that his track record, accessibility and relationship with grassroots supporters would strengthen his chances in the 2027 elections, adding that residents of Ovia Federal Constituency were desirous of attracting greater democratic dividends.
He also commended former Bayelsa State governor, Seriake Dickson, whom he described as the founder of the NDC platform, for sustaining the ideals and vision upon which the party was established.
