ITV to Mark Founder’s Day with Lecture on Nigeria’s Future

Independent Television and Radio (ITV) is set to commemorate its Founder’s Day alongside its 29th anniversary with a public lecture focused on Nigeria’s socio-economic direction.
The lecture, themed “Quo Vadis Nigeria: Where Are We Going?”, is expected to convene policymakers, academics, and media professionals to interrogate the country’s current realities and future prospects.
This was disclosed in a statement signed by the Chairman of the Organising Committee, Comrade Efosa Uwangue, and made available to journalists in Benin City.
According to the statement, the keynote address will be delivered by Sir Chief Lawson Omokhodion, former Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council of Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma
The Esama of Benin, His Excellency Sir Chief Dr. Gabriel Osawaru Igbinedion, will serve as Chief Host, while Edo State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Hon. Kassim Afegbua, and the Director-General of the Edo State Diaspora Agency, Dr. (Mrs.) Loretta Oduware Ogboro-Okor, are billed to participate as panelists.
Other expected participants include the Dean, Faculty of Communication and Media Studies, University of Benin, Prof. Marcel Okhakhu, and former Director of the Nigerian Guild of Editors, Dr. Victor Okhai.
The event is scheduled to hold on April 23, 2026, at Ehizua Hub, opposite ITV Glass House, Airport Road, Benin City, beginning at 9:30 a.m.
Organisers noted that the lecture is open to invited guests, stakeholders, and members of the public with an interest in Nigeria’s development discourse.
They added that the Founder’s Day celebration will provide a platform for critical reflection on governance, media responsibility, and national development, as ITV continues to strengthen its role in Nigeria’s broadcast industry.
