chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Osaro Obaze, has formally declared his intention to contest the Oredo Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives in the 2027 general elections.
Obaze made the declaration during a visit to the APC secretariat in Oredo Local Government Area of Edo State, where he met with party leaders and members to seek their support ahead of the election.
Addressing party faithful, Obaze said his decision to enter the race was driven by his commitment to serve the people of Oredo and ensure that the constituency is effectively represented at the National Assembly.
He said politics should be seen as a platform for service rather than personal gain, noting that individuals who have contributed to the growth and success of the party deserve the support of members when they aspire to serve.
“I am not in politics out of desperation. I am in politics to ensure that the needs of our people are met to the best of our ability,” he said.
The aspirant commended the leadership of the APC in Edo State, particularly Governor Monday Okpebholo, for what he described as developmental strides that have strengthened the party’s prospects in future elections.
Obaze also expressed appreciation to party leaders and members for their sacrifices and commitment, recalling the efforts made by party faithful during the struggle that led to the party’s victory in the state.
According to him, the progress recorded by the APC in Edo State is the result of the collective efforts and dedication of members who worked tirelessly to secure electoral success.
He emphasised the need for unity within the party, noting that maintaining strong relationships among members would help sustain the party’s achievements and position it strongly in future political contests.
Obaze, who said he has interacted extensively with people across the constituency over the years, assured party members that he understands the needs and aspirations of the people and would work towards addressing them if elected.
He also urged party members to remain steadfast and continue supporting the government, expressing optimism that their patience and commitment would yield positive results.
The declaration attracted party leaders, stakeholders and supporters from across Oredo Local Government Area, who gathered at the party secretariat to witness the event.
