The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo State on Thursday inaugurated its State Executive Council for another four-year term, alongside executive members at the local government level, following their affirmation at the party’s State Congress earlier this week.
The executives were unanimously returned to office through a consensus and affirmation process during the APC State Congress held on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, in Benin City, the state capital.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony held at the party’s secretariat in Benin City, the State Chairman, Emperor Jarrett Tenebe, said the affirmation of the executive council was consistent with the democratic ideals enshrined in the party’s constitution and tradition.
Tenebe noted that the newly inaugurated leadership would serve as the party’s driving force over the next four years, stressing the need for members to strengthen the party’s structures and sustain electoral victories ahead of the 2027 general elections.
He described members of the executive council as individuals of proven integrity who have distinguished themselves in various capacities in the service and development of the party.
According to him, their experience and commitment would help consolidate the APC’s position in Edo State and further advance the cause of progressive governance.
Tenebe reaffirmed the party’s commitment to unity, inclusivity and internal democracy, noting that recent defections into the APC were clear signs of its growing influence and dominance in the state’s political landscape.
He said the party had over time nurtured a vibrant political environment in Edo State that has become a reference point for political organisation and engagement across the country.
The chairman also emphasised that the SHINE Agenda of Governor Monday Okpebholo remains central to the party’s governance philosophy and ideological direction in the state.
Describing the recent wave of opposition defections into the APC as a “tsunami,” Tenebe said the party was firmly positioned for victory in the 2027 general elections.
He further pledged that the state chapter of the party would ensure alignment between the policies of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the development agenda of the Okpebholo administration.
Tenebe also assured that the party would continue to deepen its engagement with grassroots supporters, particularly youths and women, while thanking the media for what he described as its vital role in promoting democratic values and informing the public about the activities of the party.
