The Director-General of the Edo State Fire Service, Hon. Anthony Ojo, has been honoured with an Award of Excellence in Humanity in recognition of his outstanding contributions to public safety and community service in Edo State.
The award, presented by the Center For Moral Value And Justice, celebrates Ojo’s exemplary leadership, dedication to emergency response coordination, and his unwavering commitment to protecting lives and property across the state.
The recognition ceremony, held in Benin City, spotlighted Ojo’s transformative role in strengthening fire safety awareness, enhancing rapid response mechanisms, and fostering inter-agency collaboration in disaster management.
A native of Esan South Local Government Area, Ojo’s journey reflects resilience, enterprise, and public-spirited leadership. He holds a diploma in City and Gate Games, London, and is also an entrepreneur in the hospitality sector — a background that has shaped his administrative acumen and people-centered approach to governance.
As Director-General, Ojo supervises fire prevention strategies, oversees operational planning, coordinates emergency interventions, and champions public education initiatives aimed at reducing fire outbreaks in homes, markets, and business districts across Edo State.
Under his stewardship, the Edo State Fire Service has intensified community engagement drives and strengthened institutional responsiveness — efforts stakeholders say have significantly improved public confidence in emergency services.
Speaking at the presentation, representatives of the Center For Moral Value And Justice described Ojo as “a public servant whose leadership transcends duty and reflects genuine humanity.”
The award further cements his growing reputation as one of the key figures driving safety sector reforms and community-oriented service delivery in Edo State.
For many observers, the honour is not just a personal milestone for Anthony Ojo, but a recognition of the vital role the Fire Service plays in safeguarding economic activities and sustaining public trust in governance.
