You must wear Asiwaju cap, before attending Exco, Okpebholo tells commissioners

By Elvis Omoregie

Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has said all the appointed commissioners by his administration must wear President Bola Tinubu's cap named Asiwaju cap, in the state.

Okpebholo said this yesterday in Benin during the swearing-in  of the 19 Commissioners, Board member and Heads of Commission in the State

"What is happening today couldn't have happened if we don't have a responsible leader, we have done many elections and our major problem was that the president was not with us".

"Let me tell you before we begin, you see this cap (Asiwaju cap), I will not swear-in any commissioner that is not wearing the cap.

"In EXCO, if you are not wearing suit and you are wearing native, and coming to the EXCO without this Asiwanju cap, you are going back" he said.

He warned that his administration would not  tolerate corruption and actions that could undermine the integrity of his administration.

Okpebholo emphasized that all appointments were made strictly on merit, insisting that their roles are not rewards but call to serve the people of Edo State.

According to him, "your nominations did not come as a reward or patronage, but as a call to serve the people of Edo State", noting that his administration came into office on the promise of practical governance to touch the lives of our people directly.

"My administration’s focus remains on service delivery and tangible results, not propaganda"

"Our focus is not on propaganda, but on service delivery and tangible results that can be felt in every community across our state.”

Okpebholo charged the appointees to see their new positions as an opportunity to contribute meaningfully to the State’s development of the state and not not for personal enrichment.
