The inhabitants of Ogbe Abiasa community in Akoko-Edo Local Government Area of Edo, have called on the Edo State governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo to resolve the chieftaincy crisis rocking the community.

Addressing Journalists, the oldest man of the community, Moses Balogun Patrick, said Prince Abiola Garuba is the choice of the people of Ogbe Akpiasa community Oba but some group of persons who never meant well for the community are trying to scuttle it.

He said the community submitted a letter through the HRH of Somorika Oba Sule Idiaye on July 4, 2022, to the Commissioner of Local Government and other officials to ensure that Garuba is installed as the traditional ruler of the community but surprisingly, no response yet.

Balogun added that the situation has not gone down well with the community, stressing that, the state government should wade in and ensure that Garuba is installed as the traditional ruler.

On the part of Prince Abiola Garuba, he lamented that the community earlier submitted letter recommending him for the position of the Oba to the clan head but it was not forwarded to the king's makers.

He said subsequent attempts to obtain the certificate were met with delays and political interference, with one official refusing to sign accusing him of being a card-carrying member of a political party.

Prince Garuba further appealed to the state governor, Monday Okpebholo to step in and ensure that the certificate is released to him for him to be installed as the traditional ruler of the community.

"I want the government to collect the certificate for me. It's my right and it's for me and nobody can take it from me. By the special grace of God, nobody. I repeat it, nobody.

"I want the government to withdraw that certificate and give it to me. From now to December, I need my certificate", he pleaded.

Also speaking, the youth leader of the community, Mr. Jimoh Augustine, said Prince Garuba is the choice of the people because he has the ability to lead the people of the community as he has been proven in so many ways.

He said the traditional stool is rotational and it is the turn of the quarter where Garuba hails from to produce the next Oba.

Augustine appealed to the governor to listen to the voices of the people and install Prince Garuba as the traditional ruler of the community.
