I'm Not impressed About CVR Turnout Exercise In Edo -INEC Rec
By Elvis Omoregie, Benin
The Resident Electoral Commissioner in Edo State, Prof. Anugbum Onuoha, on Thursday said he's not impressed about the turnout of the CVR exercise in the State.
He made disclosure when he led other officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), on a road walk campaign to sensitize residents on the imperatives of registering in the ongoing Continuous Voters Registration (CVR) exercise.
Onuoha who visited the Ramat park, Ring Road, and New Benin Market, admonished residents who just turned 18 years of age to register and obtain their voter's card.
The REC also admonished individuals who have been of age, but haven't registered, to do so and obtain the Voter's Card in order to be eligible to exercise their franchise at the governorship, presidential and National Assemblies elections.
He expressed reservations that the turnout of residents so far for the CVR exercise is not impressive.
The REC caution: "if you fail to register, automatically, you fail to vote. we enjoin the people to come out enmasse and register for whoever they want to vote at the elections.
"If you register, your votes will surely count. This registration also includes individuals wanting to transfer of voting from one point to the other.
"You can also register on line and come for biometrics at designated centres," Onuoha added.
