Court orders status quo in Edo Butchery dispute

A Federal High Court sitting in Benin City has given an order that the Nigeria Police, Zone 5 Police headquarters in Benin City, Edo State Commissioner of Police and Mr Sunny Omokaro to maintain the status quo on the leadership and operations of the National Butchery Workers Union of Nigeria.

In an order delivered by the presiding Judge, Hon Justice B.O Quadri in suit Number FHC/B/CS/97/2024, the court also ordered the police to ensure the fundamental human rights of the members.

The court order which was spotted by Journalists in Benin city also restrained all the respondents,  the police in AIG zone 5, the Commissioner of Police,  Edo state and Mr Sunny Omokaro from disturbing members of the National Butchery Workers  Union of Nigeria from  operating their businesses including arrest, pending the determination of the motion on notice for fundamental rights enforcement.

The case was however adjourned to 26 November, 2024.
