I Was Hooked by "Juju"- Suspect Confesses

A 18 year old Usman Adamu has confessed to have been hooked down by  charm also known as "juju" at the residence of Chief Gabriel Osawaru Igbinedion, the Esama of Benin Kingdom in GRA Benin City.

Adamu said he doesn't know what happened to his brain immediately after he tried to escape through the compound fence that he was held down by what he described as juju until the police officer who was coming after him got to him and touched him before he could regain his senses.

Parading the suspects before newsmen at the police headquarters in Benin City, the public relations officer SP Moses Yamu, on behalf of CP Nemi Edwin -Iwo  said the suspects were arrested at about 0130hrs at the residence of Chief Gabriel Igbinedion, while trying to steal artifacts.

He said," Following reports of theft of artifacts from the residence of the Esama of Benin, Chief Dr. Gabriel Osawaru Igbinedion located at Okada Avenue, GRA Benin City, operatives of the Command on surveillance around the residence arrested one Adamu Usman ‘m? 18yrs on 23/07/2024 at about 0130hrs while trying to steal artifacts. 

"The worth of the already stolen artifacts is estimated at about Five Hundred Million Naira (N500,000,000.00). Upon interrogation, the suspect’s confession led to the arrest of another suspect named Etuk Bassey ‘m’ 36 Years who happened to be the driver who usually conveys these stolen artifacts. 

"The suspects have confessed to the crime while efforts to track and arrest other fleeing suspects is on. 
On 03/09/2024 at about 1545hrs, operatives of Command’s X-Squad acting on credible in formation arrested the duo of Mustapha Suleiman ’m’ 27 years, and Isaac Joseph ‘m’ 25 Years, in possession of a Toyota Rav 4 with registration number EKY 855 JJ, reasonably suspected to be stolen. 

"During interrogation, the suspects confessed to have stolen the vehicle from Lagos State and were looking for a buyer to sell the vehicle. The Lagos State Command have been contacted for take over of the case for further investigation.

According to Adamu, "I'was working in Aso time bar inside GRA Benin City when somebody I usually called senior man came to meet me and I greeted him and he told me to excort him to go and carry something that when we return he we find me something.

"That's how I followed him. When we got there, I discovered the house was more like estate I now told him, chairman, this house is estate he said no is not, i now told him chairman if I see security here i will run he said no level, that's how we jumped the fence and entered the compound.

"Before I knew it, he was bending down like a monkey and I was following him from the back He now said i should wait for him before I looked my side i didn't see him again and when i looked at my the 
side security men were coming after me immediately i decided to run that's how i was hooked until the security men came to touch me i didn't know what I was doing, but I can see, but my brain wasn't working now and i believed it was juju that hold me Adamu said".

Stop proposed Caretaker Committee inauguration, Edo assembly tells NLC president

By  Elvis Omoregie, Benin  Edo State House of Assembly yesterday passed a resolution calling on the President of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, Comrade Joe Ajaero, to shelve the proposed leadership change of the present NLC Exco in Edo State.  The resolution which a motion raised by the Majority leader, Hon. Jonathan Ibhamawu following reports of a planned inauguration of a caretaker committee in the state. Presenting the motion Hon. Ologbo Traditional Leadership: Chief Iyase Rejects Purported Installation of Olare-Aja

By Elvis Omoregie  The Okao Nore-Guae overseeing Ologbo, Ehor and Okhuoromi communities in Edo State, Chief Emma Iyase, has warned against what he described as efforts to establish a parallel traditional authority in Ologbo, rejecting the reported installation of Pa Johnson Obubu Itoto as the Olare-Aja of the community. Speaking on the development, Chief Iyase said the installation, reportedly carried out on May 30, 2026, was unknown to Benin customs and traditions and constituted a violation of the recognized traditional authority structure of the Benin Kingdom.
