Edo 2024: Vote Don't Fight, There's Life After Election, CSO tells Edo voters

Ahead of the Edo State governorship election schedule to hold on Saturday 21, September 2024, the Nigeria Civil Society Situation Room in partnership with the Africa Network for Environment and Economic Justice (ANEEJ), yesterday held a one day sensitization rally to sensitize the good people of Edo State ahead of the poll with the "Theme Vote Don't Fight, There's Life After Election".

They called on the Edo citizens and the youths to come out and cast their vote for the candidate of their choice without blood  shed and also advised the youths not to allow themselves to be used before, during and after the election.

The group took their rally through major streets in Benin City before stopping over at the secretariat of the Nigeria Union of Journalists NUJ, Edo State council.

Speakers after speakers who spoke at the rally said they're calling on Edo people to come out and vote the candidate of their choice.

They also called on the INEC and the security agencies to ensure a free, fair,  credible, and peaceful election in Edo state.

According to them, they believe Edo people can cast their votes for the candidate of their choice without blood shed, without shooting a gun, without anybody losing his or her life and also to brief the NUJ about their mission which is to preach a credible and peaceful election in Edo state.

Receiving the group, chairman, Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Edo State council, Comrade Festus Alenkhe, who received the group also appealed to the major stakeholders to allow a peaceful election in Edo state.

Speaking further comrade Alenkhe said he hopes to see an election where nobody will be shot, where people will vote peacefully the results will be counted peacefully and the winner will also be declared peacefully.
