Vandalisation of Billboards: Okundaye Spits Fire, Warns Those Behind Ugly Act

The Labour Party National Chairman on Mobilisation, Recruitment Committee Dr. Kingsley Oghogho Okundaye, has condemned the recent pulling down of the billboards of the Edo State LP candidate, Olumide Akpata in some parts of Benin metropolis.

Dr. Okundaye in a statement made available to newsmen in Benin City says such act is barbaric and not healthy for democratic process in the state adding that it is capable of causing disorder which will paint the state in bad light.

The Mobilization Recruitment Committee Chairman said it was shocking to see that such a backward development tendency is being carried out in Edo State simply because there is a forthcoming election in September.

He said in any contest it's advisable to sell your candidate to the people instead of tempering with billboards of a leading candidate an indication that others have given up.

Dr. Okundaye who emphasized that who God has ordained no man can pull down pointed out that the most disgusting aspect is to see that the PDP led government of Edo State is allegedly behind it, a situation that calls for concern.

According to him, that the Labour Party is a non violent platform however does not mean they can be taken for granted and warned those behind the dastardly act to desist from it as the election is one for uprightness and not "Agberoism"

On the issue of a caretaker committee in Edo state Dr. Oghogho Okundaye took a swipe on the national chairman of the party l, Barrister Julius Abure saying it is unconstitutional, illegal and undemocratic.

He however said that such cannot stand in Edo and wonder why now when there is a very important election to be held.

Okundaye said machinery has already been put in place to resolve all contending issues in order not to jeopardise their chances of victory in the 21, September governorship election.
