The chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists,  Edo state  council,  Comrade Festus Alenkhe has sent a message of felicitation to all Muslim Journalists and the people of Edo State on Eid al-Fitr celebration.
 
In the statement,  Comade Festus Alenkhe wished all Muslim faithful in Edo state  a happy Eid ul Fitr filled with Joy, peace and happiness.

He prayed for Allah to shower His divine blessings upon the people and their immediate families.  

Comrade Festus Alenkhe  joined to say "AMEN" to all the prayers rendered during the holy month of Ramadan which is one of the five pillars of lslam.

He said the celebration should be used to amend our ways  and reflect on the future and development of our dear ,Edo state.
In the Edo state 2024  Governorship election  , Comrade Festus Alenkhe urged Journalists to resist the temptation of politicians using them to peddle fake news but stand firmly with the  truth. 

He stressed the need for journalists in Edo State to continue to cross check information before making them public and commended media workers for standing firm in keeping Edo state united. 
He appealed to politicians in Edo state to campaign with issues while canvassing for votes and refrain from statements that will further divide the state.

Stop proposed Caretaker Committee inauguration, Edo assembly tells NLC president

By  Elvis Omoregie, Benin  Edo State House of Assembly yesterday passed a resolution calling on the President of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, Comrade Joe Ajaero, to shelve the proposed leadership change of the present NLC Exco in Edo State.  The resolution which a motion raised by the Majority leader, Hon. Jonathan Ibhamawu following reports of a planned inauguration of a caretaker committee in the state. Presenting the motion Hon. Ologbo Traditional Leadership: Chief Iyase Rejects Purported Installation of Olare-Aja

By Elvis Omoregie  The Okao Nore-Guae overseeing Ologbo, Ehor and Okhuoromi communities in Edo State, Chief Emma Iyase, has warned against what he described as efforts to establish a parallel traditional authority in Ologbo, rejecting the reported installation of Pa Johnson Obubu Itoto as the Olare-Aja of the community. Speaking on the development, Chief Iyase said the installation, reportedly carried out on May 30, 2026, was unknown to Benin customs and traditions and constituted a violation of the recognized traditional authority structure of the Benin Kingdom.
