A Chieftain of the Labour Party (LP) and National Coordinator of the Party Patriotic Members Congress, Dr. Kingsley Oghogho Okundaye, has called on the national leadership of the party to postpone the Congress to make way for a proper and coordinated exercise.

The Chieftain was speaking against the background of the crisis currently rocking the party in view of how the Congress should be conducted.

He said the need to speak out became necessary  because conducting the Congress at this point in time will cause more crisis in the party than good.

Dr Okundaye expressed  dismay that  the national chairman Julius Abure has not  handled the crisis properly  but what he  has done  can  spell doom for the party especially in Edo State where the governorship election  is expected to hold on 21st of September 2024

The coordinator  Labour party Patriotic member Congress said it is sad to see the party which some of them built over the years been in the verge of collapse because of the  attitude of some persons that does not  mean well for the party.

He explained that the best way to go  is for the  party to abide by the tenets of the Constitution and in accordance with INEC guidelines on how to conduct the Congress so as not to destroy the party totally saying the only way to achieve such is to postpone the congress.

The Labour Party bigwig who bemoaned the attitude of some of the leaders of the party in trying to destroy it said members should not forget the Democratic principles the party has been built upon  over the years.

He however warned that those planning to instill more crisis in the party to have a rethink as they won't fold their arms and see their effort been crumbled

On the issue of factionalization of the Obedient movement the pioneer member of the group described it as unfortunate  maintaining that those involved  were originally not dedicated members but those involved for their selfish interest.
