Edo 2024: Dr. Azemhe presents his certificate of return to supporters

The Governorship candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) for the Edo State September 21, 2024 governorship election, Dr. Azemhe Azena Friday, on Thursday presented his certificate of return to his teeming supporters and party faithfuls.

The NNPP candidate presented the certificate to the large crowd of supporters at the Benin airport, on his return from Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory.

Azemhe polled a total of 211 votes to defeat  Sebastian Iyere 25 votes, Balogun Engealeyeme Sunday 17 votes and Peter Okoeguale 100 votes at the primary election.

Upon presenting the certificate to the teeming supporters he reiterated his commitment to repositioning Edo State as a leading sub-sovereign in Africa, if elected as governor.

He noted that he was confident of victory in the polls having canvassed for support among critical stakeholders in the party, including youths, women, the elderly and leaders of the party, who have expressed their support for him with the outcome of the election.

Noting that he has a two steps agenda which is to reunite fellow aggrieaved aspirants and willing to work with them for the victory of the party at the polls, added that the house divided against itself can't stand.

he said he was going to reach out to the party leaders that he was just returning from Abuja where he met with the party National chairman the national leaders of the party and his back to Edo state to meet with the state leaders to look for way forward strategies and see how they can capture Edo state from the hands of Goliath, Cankerworm and Caterpillars that have been destroying Edo state over the years.

He said Edo state needs to go back to the days where everyone can sleep with two eyes closed and urge the people to Shaun the idea of taking peanuts from politicians.

Stop proposed Caretaker Committee inauguration, Edo assembly tells NLC president

By  Elvis Omoregie, Benin  Edo State House of Assembly yesterday passed a resolution calling on the President of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, Comrade Joe Ajaero, to shelve the proposed leadership change of the present NLC Exco in Edo State.  The resolution which a motion raised by the Majority leader, Hon. Jonathan Ibhamawu following reports of a planned inauguration of a caretaker committee in the state. Presenting the motion Hon. Ologbo Traditional Leadership: Chief Iyase Rejects Purported Installation of Olare-Aja

By Elvis Omoregie  The Okao Nore-Guae overseeing Ologbo, Ehor and Okhuoromi communities in Edo State, Chief Emma Iyase, has warned against what he described as efforts to establish a parallel traditional authority in Ologbo, rejecting the reported installation of Pa Johnson Obubu Itoto as the Olare-Aja of the community. Speaking on the development, Chief Iyase said the installation, reportedly carried out on May 30, 2026, was unknown to Benin customs and traditions and constituted a violation of the recognized traditional authority structure of the Benin Kingdom.
