Osazee Oyegue to receive NUJ Special award

The Founder/CEO of Standard Life Organization Nigeria and the Founder Chairman of Prudent Choice Microinsurance and Standard Life Rwanda, Mr Osazee Oyegue, will on Friday 9th of December, 2023 receive a special award of honour from the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Edo State Council.

Mr Oyegue, is a microfinance expert, financial expert, administrator and enterpreneuer. He is also a philanthropist and selfless Nigerian who through his organization have  help and raised millions of Nigerians out of poverty his relentless pursuit of empowering individuals and communities for financial inclusion have continue to stand him out.

In a joint statement, chairman and secretary NUJ 2023 Press Week Committee, Mr Efosa Uwangue of ITV/Radio and Oliver Ojiogbe of EBS TV made available to Journalists in Benin, said the special award on Oyegue and some other selected Nigerians is in recognition of their various contributions to human development and to the society in their various capacities.

According to the statement, Osazee Oyegue is been recognized for his outstanding contributions to societal development and his capacity to put smiles on the faces of the downtrodden in the society.

Stop proposed Caretaker Committee inauguration, Edo assembly tells NLC president

By  Elvis Omoregie, Benin  Edo State House of Assembly yesterday passed a resolution calling on the President of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, Comrade Joe Ajaero, to shelve the proposed leadership change of the present NLC Exco in Edo State.  The resolution which a motion raised by the Majority leader, Hon. Jonathan Ibhamawu following reports of a planned inauguration of a caretaker committee in the state. Presenting the motion Hon. Ologbo Traditional Leadership: Chief Iyase Rejects Purported Installation of Olare-Aja

By Elvis Omoregie  The Okao Nore-Guae overseeing Ologbo, Ehor and Okhuoromi communities in Edo State, Chief Emma Iyase, has warned against what he described as efforts to establish a parallel traditional authority in Ologbo, rejecting the reported installation of Pa Johnson Obubu Itoto as the Olare-Aja of the community. Speaking on the development, Chief Iyase said the installation, reportedly carried out on May 30, 2026, was unknown to Benin customs and traditions and constituted a violation of the recognized traditional authority structure of the Benin Kingdom. According to him, Ologbo remains an integral part of the Benin traditional institution, and matters concerning traditional leadership, chieftaincy titles and community governance must align with the customs, laws and established practices of the kingdom. “Any installation conducted outside the recognised traditional structures and procedures cannot enjoy legitimacy within the community,” he stated.
