Ex-Edo DG, Friends celebrate Igue festival in New York

It was a gathering of like minds as Benin Club and Edo Organisation, all in the United States of America, USA gathered to jointly celebrate the 2023 Igue festival.
The large gathering witnessed the turnout of Edolites from all works of life, including former deputy governor of Edo State, Mr Lucky Imasuen who is one of the first Nigerians to establish security outfit in New York City.
According to one of those who participated traditionally in the activities marking the Benin annual new year festival, Mr Richard Iyasere popularly referred to as the Enogie of New York said the Igue festival is not fetish as portrayed by many but a significant celebration of Benin race.
"This festival is an annual festival, it gives the Benins in Edo State, Nigeria in sub-sahara Africa the opportunity of beginning a new calendar year with Thanksgiving to God and prayers to usher in more blessing. Every true Benin Son and Daughter celebrates the Igue festival.
"Though we are not in Benin physically but here in the City of New York, joining our people back home in Africa to celebrate this year 2023 Igue festival. You can see the presence of a former deputy governor of Edo state Mr Lucky Imasuen who despite his busy schedules, joined us to mark this event. It is an avenue to reunite with the ICON.
Mr Iyasere who is the CEO Daddyrich Productions, USA, while thanking Benin Club and Edo Organisation for aligning with those in Nigeria in making this year Igue festival in America a memorable event sued for cooperation from all Benins across the globe.
"I want to congratulate our royal father, the Oba of Benin, His Royal Majesty, Ewuare II for his continuous effort towards uniting every Benin nation and strengthening the peace and tranquility amongst the Benins.
