Edo is the heartbeat of the nation, Apc should be the heartbeat of Edo state -Airhiavbere

BENIN CITY- The immediate past executive director,finance and administration of Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) Gen Charles Airhiavbere rtd has officially intimated the state executive members of All Progressive Congress of his intentions to govern Edo state with a vision for a better future built on three fundamental pillars- peace , infrastructure and economic prosperity

The former General was accompanied on the official declaration by a huge crowd of loyalist , supporters, party leaders from the 18 local government areas to the secretariat of the All Progressive Congress in Benin .

While addressing the state executive members of the party ,he said as Edo is the heartbeat of the nation, APC should be the heartbeat of Edo State and all members of the  party in Edo State should close ranks to win the election come next year

He said his commitment to peace is the cornerstone of the campaign adding that a peaceful society is a prerequisites for progress and prosperity with aim to invest in diplomacy, conflict resolution and community engagement that will foster understanding and unity amongst diverse group

Gen Charles Airhiavbere pledged to prioritize infrastructural development by investing in modern transportation systems, sustainable energy initiatives and upgraded technology networks pointing out that by revitalization,  jobs will be created and the foundation for for long term economic growth will be laid

He said the annual Igue festival ,Emoro festival and other festivals across the state will be prioritized and made good tourist attraction as Edo people do not need a government that will be interested in artifacts but rather join in the reparation of the artifacts to its original aboard

He added that his campaign also pledges a transformative approach to Education, Agriculture and health infrastructure, recognizing the pivotal roles in societal advancement

He subsequently said economic prosperity will be the ultimate goal of his administration as policies that stimulate job creation , encourage entrepreneurship and support small businesses will be implemented

Gen Charles Airhiavbere then used the occasion to call on the citizens to support and join in the journey towards a harmonious, prosperous and inclusive  future for Edo state

In his remark, the secretary of the state APC Engr Lawrence Okah speaking on behalf of other executive members said the party has not zoned the governorship ticket of the party to any senatorial district

He urged all the aspirants to go about their consultations with stakeholders of the party

Stop proposed Caretaker Committee inauguration, Edo assembly tells NLC president

By  Elvis Omoregie, Benin  Edo State House of Assembly yesterday passed a resolution calling on the President of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, Comrade Joe Ajaero, to shelve the proposed leadership change of the present NLC Exco in Edo State.  The resolution which a motion raised by the Majority leader, Hon. Jonathan Ibhamawu following reports of a planned inauguration of a caretaker committee in the state. Presenting the motion Hon. Ologbo Traditional Leadership: Chief Iyase Rejects Purported Installation of Olare-Aja

By Elvis Omoregie  The Okao Nore-Guae overseeing Ologbo, Ehor and Okhuoromi communities in Edo State, Chief Emma Iyase, has warned against what he described as efforts to establish a parallel traditional authority in Ologbo, rejecting the reported installation of Pa Johnson Obubu Itoto as the Olare-Aja of the community. Speaking on the development, Chief Iyase said the installation, reportedly carried out on May 30, 2026, was unknown to Benin customs and traditions and constituted a violation of the recognized traditional authority structure of the Benin Kingdom.
