Stop proposed Caretaker Committee inauguration, Edo assembly tells NLC president

Edo State House of Assembly yesterday passed a resolution calling on the President of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, Comrade Joe Ajaero, to shelve the proposed leadership change of the present NLC Exco in Edo State. 

The resolution which a motion raised by the Majority leader, Hon. Jonathan Ibhamawu following reports of a planned inauguration of a caretaker committee in the state.

Presenting the motion Hon. Ibhamawu, said there is a harmonious labour force devoid of strife under the leadership of  Comrade Bernard Eguakhide and that the  action of Joe Ajaero can cause bridge of peace in Edo State. 

He said the change of the present Exco should be done at the end of their tenure to guarantee a peaceful and harmonious working environment.
 
Other lawmakers supported the motion stating that the proposed leadership change of the present Exco in Edo State should be put on hold in the Interest of peace and harmony.

In another development, the lawmakers received a Petition from civil society groups in Edo State  calling on the lawmakers to look into the issue of the return of Community Development Associations, CDAs and their notorious activities.

The lawmakers condemned the return of CDAs, and their  activities in the state, noting that their actions will not be tolerated by the state government. 

The Petition was referred to the House Committe on Public Petitions for consideration. 

Meanwhile, a bill for a law to Establish the Edo State parks and Garden Agency scaled through its third reading.
